Beyond fear, destiny awaits. Watch the trailer for the highly anticipated #DuneMovie now.

Oscar nominee Denis Villeneuve (“Arrival,” “Blade Runner 2049”) directs Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures’ “Dune,” the big-screen adaptation of Frank Herbert’s seminal bestseller of the same name. A mythic and emotionally charged hero’s journey, “Dune” tells the story of Paul Atreides, a brilliant and gifted young man born into a great destiny beyond his understanding, who must travel to the most dangerous planet in the universe to ensure the future of his family and his people. As malevolent forces explode into conflict over the planet’s exclusive supply of the most precious resource in existence-a commodity capable of unlocking humanity’s greatest potential-only those who can conquer their fear will survive. The film stars Oscar nominee Timothée Chalamet (“Call Me by Your Name,” “Little Women”), Rebecca Ferguson (“Stephen King’s Doctor Sleep,” “Mission: Impossible - Fallout”), Oscar Isaac (the “Star Wars” franchise) Oscar nominee Josh Brolin (“Milk,” “Avengers: Infinity War”), Stellan Skarsgård (HBO’s “Chernobyl,” “Avengers: Age of Ultron”), Dave Bautista (the “Guardians of the Galaxy” films, “Avengers: Endgame”), Stephen McKinley Henderson (“Fences,” “Lady Bird”), Zendaya (“Spider-Man: Homecoming,” HBO’s “Euphoria”), Chang Chen (“Mr. Long,” “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon”), David Dastmalchian (“Blade Runner 2049,” “The Dark Knight”), Sharon Duncan-Brewster (“Rogue One: A Star Wars Story,” Netflix’s “Sex Education”), with Oscar nominee Charlotte Rampling (“45 Years,” “Assassin’s Creed”), with Jason Momoa (“Aquaman,” HBO’s “Game of Thrones”), and Oscar winner Javier Bardem (“No Country for Old Men,” “Skyfall”). Villeneuve directed “Dune” from a screenplay he co-wrote with Jon Spaihts and Eric Roth based on the novel of the same name written by Frank Herbert. Villeneuve also produced the film with Mary Parent, Cale Boyter and Joe Caracciolo, Jr. The executive producers are Tanya Lapointe, Joshua Grode, Herbert W. Gains, Jon Spaihts, Thomas Tull, Brian Herbert, Byron Merritt and Kim Herbert. Behind the scenes, Villeneuve reteamed with two-time Oscar-nominated production designer Patrice Vermette (“Arrival,” “Sicario,” “The Young Victoria”), two-time Oscar-nominated editor Joe Walker (“Blade Runner 2049,” “Arrival,” “12 Years a Slave”), two-time Oscar-winning visual effects supervisor Paul Lambert (“First Man,” “Blade Runner 2049”), and Oscar-winning special effects supervisor Gerd Nefzer (“Blade Runner 2049”). He also collaborated for the first time with Oscar-nominated director of photography Greig Fraser (“Lion,” “Zero Dark Thirty,” “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story”); three-time Oscar-nominated costume designer
Jacqueline West (“The Revenant,” “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button,” “Quills”) and co-costume designer Bob Morgan; and stunt coordinator Tom Struthers (“The Dark Knight” trilogy, “Inception”). Oscar-winning and multiple Oscar-nominated composer Hans Zimmer (“Blade Runner 2049,” “Inception,” “Gladiator,” “The Lion King”) is creating the score. Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures Present “Dune.” The film is slated to be released in theaters on December 18, 2020.

  • the original Dune movie was super-boring, let'shope this is better

    • Fine you're right.. it was beautiful though. They've got all the CGI they're probably going to ruin this film with it though. I always preferred the books what are their eight of them now? Anyway they're amazing books the movie I should say the original movie was actually pretty good even though it could be super boring. Amazing actors giving amazing performances.

    • I don't know I watched the original movie I read the books it's been a while I admit it but it was a damn good series. But it has nothing to do with Lord of the rings or anything like that no it's an alternate timeline for humanity having nothing to do with ours more like Star wars if you want to know the truth. the difference is there's a segregation in women and men the woman that told him to put his hand in the box was like a matriarch type. She finds special females to breed with special males to make very powerful Messiah types. That's how they're world goes people have super powers for the most part because they had careful breeding. So no nothing like the Lord of the rings.. but it's epic dune the original movie was beautiful. I can just imagine if they don't go over the CGI it could be beautiful too.

  • I was really impressed with this trailer when I first saw it. I've seen it a few times now. All I knew about Dune was that it was this weird sci fi epic from the 1970's or something that had Patrick Stewart in some minor role. That's all I knew. But then other videos related to Dune or Asimov were soon recommended. I was born after Big Sci Fi - in the Hollywood Movie sense - was already predominant but still young, so it was really I think ultimately disorienting to me, in no small part because I found it so interestingly immersive. (I had no clue where it was all stemming from. I've had to piece this all together. And I'm just beginning to emerge from that lifelong examination, almost as if from a cocoon or silencing booth. Just in time for Big Tech in 2021 to demonstrate how real my suspicions were.) ANYWAY, after seeing this preview, I began researching Dune & Frank Herbert & even Isaac Asimov again. Contemplating deeply the agendas, depths, intentions, concerns and even shallowness or cultural omissions done in science fictions - and how they all speak to one another and what they are trying to say, to hint, or even to exclude and why. I began seeing far more between the lines than was deliberately hinted at, than was included 'in the lines' of the movies and books themselves...as politics, religion, art, culture, hope, agenda, all collide. This has been a very interesting few years for me, as the themes of what I now call 'big sci fi' are all increasing in clarity to me. Here, when we are near what seems like the end of what gave the USA it's freedom and character. I think I may know where Frank Herbert derived some of his inspiration - although I still haven't read the books and know relatively little about the series. Its themes do tie into my life. I think that right now, in 2021, we need more universal human meaning in our narratives order to sustain a healthy ingenuity and we need human clarity and perhaps an individualist Thomas Jefferson Bill of Rights type force behind that meaning. Or we are not going to like where 'we' (as individuals or as a world...or a country) are headed. Human nature is polemic, it battles against its shadow self in effort to preserve sense of pride as it learns of falsehood. So we have a tendency to project our shadows - even of our own present or recent guilt - upon others and so strategize to attack them. So now world politics is about who is 'good' and 'bad' (that's usually politics). I call this being 'heartless in China'. Since...I read a few years ago how some religious small town Chinese people who were not doing what the CCP wanted them to were branded "heartless"...by the organ-harvesting officially atheist CCP. (That would be a joke, if it weren't true.) It opened my eyes to the simplest nature of what propaganda really is - anywhere and at any time. It seems frivolously silly - how easily our sentiments are manipulated toward draconian ends. We're up against the collective Dragon (of human nature - simplest explanation). And I think that most of us (if not all of us) are out of our league at the present time. (Maybe we're in a time poetically similar to the themes of Revelation 16 - or maybe closer to the end, I don't know. All I know is that right now we're heading both for a Keynesian socialist economic earthquake, an automation revolution, AND an Epicurean neo-pagan anti-Bible marxist revolution in attempt to lock people out from all wealth and even life itself, just seems to me. And we need to be wiser about all this.) So we need God's help, for the honest, the inventive, the Righteous good among the nations to stand...or even to survive and live well. Because at the end of the day, we're neighbors with families. Or what are we. So I will return tomorrow with the beginning of the completion of an online art-reality-ideology project that I began experimenting with many years ago. Should be interesting! Let us continue.

  • This film is (or could be) so much more than a simple blockbuster. The fact that Warner want to make it on HBO Max is just.... This movie can potentialy change the way we see Sci-Fi. FINALY, adapt this inadaptable story ! And don't forget about Legendary who trying to protect this idea. They are, for me, one of the few big studio who actually care about cinema.

    ArcquiArcquiDay ago
    • I'm fairly sure much like the original film it really wasn't made to be a blockbuster this is one of those artsy type films that they don't really care whether they make a blockbuster summer. it's not that they don't want the film to do well don't get me wrong it's just that they don't care whether it does well or not because it's the type of film that was made for the pure love of it. See the first movie you'll get me then. Beautiful and long and let's be honest kind of boring. The books are much better and there's like over eight of them. Cuz I'm barely sure the reference book or two out there. And they kind of count unless of course you're not in the fandom... Then it doesn't matter.

      Christy ShultzChristy Shultz6 hours ago
  • All i see is : _Stranger Things, Mission Impossible, Aquaman, Star Wars, The Hobbit, Guardian of Galaxy_ all in one shot. 🎬

    SamSamDay ago
    • Okay first off this is very close and some ways to the original that predated everything that you just named. It's based on a book series and the original movie which was in the 70s. Or maybe edging into the early '80s. And they managed to make that movie beautiful without CGI. Okay so it can be a little boring in some places.. but the first movie was a damn good film the movies that you're talking about steal from each other this movie steals from nobody except being more of a faithful adaptation to the original. From the looks of it I remember the boxing in the first movie. The woman who is talking to him is got a lot of power amongst the women of that world. It's she that matches people together and that world careful breeding is how it all works everybody has a matchmaker. Nobody just spontaneously screws anybody else. They're breeding super powerful people. If anything things like the elder scrolls dovahkiin is stolen from this because this particular character get a thumm here's no other way to describe it to use the sound to attack people. And that world their abilities comes from spice.. the type of spice that only comes from the planet that he's on in the movie I mean nicknamed dune but it's a special planet. So no it's nothing like the movies you're talking about. I'm just hoping it lives up to the original movie and the series and the books because it's a big fandom by now.

Why do you have to focus on any sort of diverse casting choice or political undertone in a movie and let that destroy your experience? Just appreciate good filmmaking. It's still here.

I'm barely sure now that I think about it that it was in the late '70s that movie came out. Maybe even the early '80s but I don't think so.. but it's possible I know Patrick Stewart was in it sting Kyle McLaughlin and a whole bunch of other people that were very very famous. And the original one was a little bit boring but beautiful. It would be nice if this film followed the original film it seems to I remember that box scene. spderwebspderweb3 days ago
    • @spderweb Considering this is from the same director as Blade Runner 2049, Prisoners (2013), Sicario, Arrival (2016), and other slow paced movies, I highly doubt this is going to be a fast paced dumb down blockbuster at all. Hell, they're only tackling half of the book in this movie and saving the second half for the sequel, that's how slow they're going to take it.

      Brendan MilburnBrendan Milburn8 hours ago
    • @Brendan Milburn That's a bad idea too though. There'll surely be negative reviews out the wazoo if they stuck to the pace and roped in people that have no interest. That much bad publicity would be a great way to convince a publisher to drop the franchise on the spot. I think, BECAUSE of the massive number of big actors, that the movie will be fast paced, and cut a tonne of content to keep general audiences interested. Dune could only really be done justice if it was a tv series on Sci Fi.

      spderwebspderweb8 hours ago
    • @spderweb Well if this movie is going to be accurate to the book, this is going to be a slow burn thought provoking sci-fi movie, so best try to get the mainstream crowd in the theaters via the cast and the few action scenes before they realize it really isn't a mindless action movie.

    • I mean, this is going to cover more content from the book, as it's only tackling half of the book, saving the second half for the sequel.
