  • Fabulous and so funny explanation, thank you John Oliver for saving a lot of us! And thank you Jaime Camil! I can't count all the times friends or acquaintances have tried to entice me into their MLM schemes and I'm so thankful I've always found the way to escape. But I just did the math: If I recruit 10 people, and those 10 people recruit 10, etc, etc, it will only take 10 levels to reach 10 billion people! That's more than all the people on earth, so I guess we'll have to start finding people in other planets, LOL! Wouldn't that be a great argument for the people pushing us into it? Get the calculator on your phone and show them how impossible that is!

  • A good college friend "asked" me to join at the wrong time of my life. Having just dropped out, I was too depressed to even be blinded by their promises of "better future, better health" for me or my family. Nihilism and natural born skepticism saved my ass. That whole day felt so surreal. I was just promised a good hangout but the whole commute to their HQ in the busy city made too structural the way she would insert weird pandering sentiments when I just wanted us to talk about MUSIC OR SOME SHIT. I feel bad for her (and her boyfriend) though because her mother basically groomed her into it waiting for her to turn 18 to make her drop out and shit. Edit: The company is Usana if anyone is curious and want to avoid. Can't believe John even mentioned it at 22:44. I thought it was just prevalent in my country lol.

  • Questions to ask before starting *any* vendor business: 1. How much profit can I make per unit sold? 2. How many units do I need to sell per month to earn a living? 3. Is that feasible? Additional questions to ask before joining an MLM: Why do they need so many distributors anyway? (Because it's a pyramid scheme.) Isn't that going to mean splitting profits between more people? (Yes.) Doesn't this sound to good to be true? (Yes.)

    Magnus HolmgrenMagnus HolmgrenDay ago

  • Primerica and World Financial Group are also MLM companies that offer financial services. Be wise and stay away from them as well, they are just as bad as the companies mentioned in this video. Many years ago I joined Primerica for a very short time. Their main focus was on recruiting and they encouraged manipulative and dishonest tactics, so I left quickly. Today I am working for a highly respected financial services company and I run my own business with honesty and integrity. I am not trying to recruit anyone. If someone asks me about starting in the business, I will tell them the truth that blood, sweat and tears are required to make any business grow and succeed. It's very hard work, however helping people with financial planning is very rewarding. Thanks John for this MLM warning video. If it sounds like a pyramid scheme or if it looks like a multi level marketing company. Trust your instinct and RUN the other way ! :)

  • Long before he was a presidential candidate, businessman Donald Trump endorsed products and companies and he made money doing it. One of those companies, ACN, sold long-distance phone services and videophones. Over a ten-year business relationship, Trump appeared in at least a half-dozen promotional videos for the company, which is described as a multi-level marketing firm.

    • The word is "You're," not Your." You should know f*cking better! He is in front of an American audience, so he pronounced it correctly for his audience. Do your part and copy/paste this message, including this part, all over social media (unless owned/operated by current Amway IBOs or the Amway scam company), and encourage them to do the same, and so on, à la network marketing/MLM. Also, submit a complaint to the FTC at If you don't, then you're part of the problem. Amway has 2 major problems, and most MLMs have at least one of these issues: 1. The products are overpriced, which makes them almost impossible to sell to customers and results in Amway being an illegal pyramid: , and also according to the FTC and SEC websites and previous court decisions and settlements; and 2. The Tool Scam is hidden profit for the top level distributors only, and the vast majority of distributors operate at a net loss as a result: This is RICO fraud. For recent examples, google “FTC” along with the following companies, one at a time: FHTM, BurnLounge, Zeek, TelexFree, Vemma, Advocare, Neora, Javita, Waiora, Business For Health, and Herbalife. Make a complaint on the FTC website: Although there is no federal law defining pyramid schemes, the FTC has a long and successful track record of using its Section 5 law prohibiting “unfair and deceptive” business practices to go after MLM scams: which states, in part, “Not all multilevel marketing plans are legitimate. If the money you make is based on your sales to the public, it may be a legitimate multilevel marketing plan. If the money you make is based on the number of people you recruit and your sales to them, it’s probably not. It could be a pyramid scheme. Pyramid schemes are illegal, and the vast majority of participants lose money.” Read about these and much more at these websites: and , and email to help shut down Amway and other MLM scams. Watch this video about Amway and other MLM scams, then forward it to everyone you know, except for current Amway IBOs, and encourage them to do the same. When enough people know, these scams will collapse: English version: Spanish version: Listen to my weekly radio/podcast:

  • So effectively my ira is getting the equivalent of roughly a 5.5% rate of return over the last 7 years and inflation is increasing at roughly 2-3% depending on the years. If you take it out you pay the 10% fee and 20% fee, depending on which ira I also pay income tax. If I switch to the safest investments it does not keep up with inflation and investing in my preferred stocks does not appear to be an option. Weird companies get to borrow at negative interest rates when the point of the stock market was for companies to get capital by attracting investors not raising stock prices to get better loan access from the FED when they companies don’t even pay tax in many situations. I’m a gosh darn socialist I guess.
